Sacramento County Office of Education to Recognize Vets and Internees Whose High School Education Was Disrupted Due to War
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) has announced that it will again grant tall institution diplomas to qualifying U.S. veterans and Japanese American citizens because of its favourite “Function Identification” program.
The Operation Identification program was adopted in October 2001 near the Sacramento County Board of Teaching to honor the contributions and sacrifices of individuals who missed completing tall institution to serve in the U.S. martial (specifically Earth Warfare II or the Korean Warfare) or relocate to a World Warfare II internment camp representing Japanese American citizens. In 2005, the County Board Of Teaching expanded the program to incorporate veterans of the Vietnam Warfare.
“Numerous young persons place their educations and personal lives on grasp to serve our country during times of warfare,” said Sacramento County Supervisor of Schools Dave Gordon. “These veterans and Japanese American citizens went on to build countless contributions during their lives. Function Recognition is our opportunity to honor them representing the sacrifices they made.”
The Sacramento County Board of Education has provided diplomas to 128 qualifying veterans and Japanese American citizens because of Function Identification since 2001. Four of the diplomas possess been awarded posthumously.
Residents of Sacramento County are encouraged to ask for diplomas on behalf of themselves or qualifying family members, including persons who are at present deceased. May 8, 2009, is the deadline to submit applications. The Sacramento County Plank of Education is scheduled to grasp its next Operation Identification diploma awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Qualifications for an Operation Identification diploma incorporate:
- Applicant or receiver is a Sacramento County in residence;
- Veterans: show evidence of Honorable Release from U.S. military service occurring during WW II, the Korean Warfare or the Vietnam Warfare;
- Japanese American citizens: show evidence of internment in a WW II relocation camp; and
- Veterans and Japanese American citizens: present designation of tall institution applicant was attending at period of induction into martial service or internment.

California rule (Education Law ?? 51440) authorizes the granting of retroactive high institution diplomas to fit veterans.
